A customer service app created by Milton Keynes based design and digital marketing agency, 4FX, with Olleco, the UK’s leading cooking oil supplier and used cooking oil collector, has been recognised with two national awards.

The customer app and web portal, designed and built by 4FX, helps customers in the food service and hospitality sectors to manage the collection, delivery and recycling of cooking oil. At the Materials Recycling World’s National Recycling Awards 2025 the project won the ‘Digital Innovation Award’ for ‘streamlining the future of oil management with an innovative tech solution’.

In addition, the app and online portal which gives large fast-food chains and other catering and hospitality businesses 24-7 access to their accounts to manage to deliveries, collections and compliance documentation has been named as a finalist in the ‘Best Application of Technology’ category at the UK Customer Satisfaction Awards 2026, run by the Institute of Customer Service.

Olleco is the renewables arm of ABP Food Group and provides the food service and hospitality sectors with a range of sustainable services which streamline operations and support a circular economy. It has grown to become the UK’s leading supplier of premium cooking oils and fats, as well as the largest collector of used cooking oil and food waste.

The iOS and Android apps and desktop web application gives customers round the clock access to an online portal where they can check the status of oil deliveries and collections to help with smarter inventory management, as well as find compliance and invoicing information. For added security and to reduce risk of oil theft, customers can also check driver ID and vehicle registrations.

On the award win, the Olleco team commented: “Our award-winning app was recognised as “a great example of how to take a customer service approach to address specific industry issues – an approach that could make all the difference.”

“This achievement reflects our commitment to listening to our customers and using their insights to create services that truly make an impact. By combining innovation with a customer-first mindset, we’ve developed a platform that transforms oil management for thousands of UK businesses – making it smarter, safer and more sustainable.”

The 4FX team worked closely with both Olleco’s marketing team to ensure its brand stayed consistent across all platforms and with the IT team to seamlessly integrate data and backend functionality into its operating systems. Collectively they designed the app and web portal to create a user interface which would work across all platforms and devices, with an intuitive navigation for the best end user experience.

Chris Coomber, Director at 4FX, commented: “We are proud to be a key provider to Olleco and support them with their ambitious sustainability goals. Our team really enjoy working on their development projects and it’s fantastic to see that the app and portal has been recognised with two awards.”

The two businesses have worked in partnership since 2022, when 4FX initially designed and developed a driver app to improve efficiency and streamline operations.

Chris continues: “We’ve learnt a lot about the food service sector, renewables and recycling over the development of the first project, the Driver app and now the Customer Services apps. It’s been fascinating to learn about the processes and find solutions to some of the challenges Olleco and its customers face. We recently built a sustainability story into the apps and portal, which shows clients how much carbon they have saved for the year. We love additions like this, they keep the technology fresh and current and encourage users to return.”
